This course introduces teachers to the concepts of computational thinking and coding to develop students’ problem solving skills.
Participants will explore a combination of “offline” activities and “online” activities that will focus on the development of students’ problem solving abilities. STEM-focused resources, namely Bee-Bots and Scratch Jnr, will be used.
Participants will also have the opportunity to use Lego We Do kits, which incorporates engineering, maths and coding. These resources can be incorporated into teaching and learning from the infant classroom up to sixth class. Participants are required to bring a tablet/mobile device (with Scratch Jnr downloaded) with them to the course. Bee-Bots and Lego We Do kits are available to borrow from Carrick-on-Shannon Education Centre.
