  2. Once you have registered, an email will be sent to your email address with a ZOOM WEBINAR LINK. Please follow the instructions outlined in the email, to register for the webinar.  
  3. After registering through the ZOOM LINK in that email, you will then receive a second email confirming your booking and containing important information about joining the webinar.

Supporting Children with EAL in Primary Schools  ( Live Webinar - Carrick-on-Shannon) - Course Ref: 21SU07

This summer course provides practical and informative advice to equip attendees with important insights, skills and resources for supporting children with English as an Additional Language in a very tangible way.

Topics of exploration include understanding children with EAL, the language learning process, supporting children with EAL, planning for teaching and learning through EAL, and a whole-school community approach to EAL. This course offers a blend of both theoretical and practical considerations, to ensure that attendees not only develop knowledge that is important for their work with children with EAL, but also emerge with a repertoire of tools to respond to the identified needs of the children they work with.

Key features of the course include interactive and hands-on learning activities, collective discussions and sharing of practice, handouts, websites, recommended reading and a learning journal to recall new approaches upon school return.

This Course will be delivered from Monday 16th August to Friday 20th August (inclusive) from 9.30am to 2pm daily, with a break from 11.30am -12 noon.

Guidelines for participation in Zoom Summer Courses:

Our zoom summer course will be in the form of a Zoom meeting. Tutors will endeavour to ensure that they will be facilitated as close to the face-to-face method of delivery as originally intended. There will be regular discussions and group activities throughout the day. The Tutors will be making use of break-out rooms etc.

The Tutors will be marking the official Department Roll each day, on your behalf, in both the morning and the afternoon. In addition to this, an attendee list will be printed off from our Zoom account. This details the time of each time you log in and out of the Zoom meeting. This is required by the Department in addition to the official Roll book.

Participants must be online for the whole duration of the course. They must have their camera on at all times and have their name displayed. It must be the name they used when registering for the course/zoom*. Participants must engage fully with the tutor and other participants.

Participants are not permitted to record the zoom sessions.

There is a strict limit of 25 participants on each course. The link must not be shared with other people.

N.B. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that they have adequate broadband and IT to access the course. Full attendance is required to be awarded 3 EPV days. 2 EPV days will be awarded for 4 days attendance. (Regardless of the reason for the absence, including poor broadband connection). No EPV days will be awarded for less than 4 days attendance.

The course fee cannot be refunded for any reason.

*NB: The host of the meeting will only admit those whose name matches the name on the roll/register. You can change the name that is displayed on Zoom by right clicking on the name and choosing the rename option
