Doodle Families Literacy Scheme for Primary Schools

The Childhood Development Initiative(CDI) is providing training for facilitators to deliver our exciting eight- week parent and child programme, Doodle Families.  Funding towards the cost of running the programme is available for some groups (see below) and CDI will provide all the necessary training, programme materials and online resources. Training will be compulsory for all facilitators

What is Doodle Families?

Doodle Families is a Family Literacy Programme aimed at children in First Class. It has been designed to be delivered in two components – one is for parents/guardians and the other is for children.

Parents’ sessions can be delivered during the school day and the children’s sessions are delivered after school.

How long does the programme run for?

Doodle Families is an eight week programme, with a one hour session for the parents, and a separate one hour session for the children, each week.

CDI is able to provide a limited number of grants at varying levels, as follows:

  • Seed Grants for schools/organisations which have not delivered Doodle Families previously:  €5,000 per group
  • Sustainability Grant for schools/organisations  which have previously delivered Doodle Families: €1,500 per group
  • CDI will prioritise groups for children attending DEIS schools.

To be considered for a grant, please complete and return the Expression of Interest form attached to Christina@cdi by 4pm on Tuesday 29th October, 2019.
