Teaching Resources/Books Available for Schools to borrow

Our local ILSA support group have recently purchased some new tests, that they are kindly making available to schools to borrow. These are available from the Office in the Education Centre.  

The attached list details the tests (items 1 to 14) that are available to borrow from the Education Centre. The other items listed under "Books and Reading Schemes" are also available to borrow.

Teachers can borrow items from the Library through the office at Carrick on Shannon Education Centre, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm).

Teachers should phone ahead and confirm the item they require is in the centre and not on loan elsewhere (071 9620383) or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  If an item is on loan, teachers will be placed on a waiting list for the resource.

A security deposit of €20 per resource must be paid on collection of resource and will be refunded to teachers when resources are returned to the centre. Note: A cheque is preferable. The cheque will be returned once the resources are returned in the condition in which they were borrowed.

Teachers will sign out the resource being borrowed in the Assessment and Resource Library logbook.

• Resources from the library can be borrowed for one week at a time.

• Teachers/Schools who borrow a resource(s) will be responsible for returning the items borrowed from the Assessment and Resource Library, in the condition in which they received them.

Items borrowed should not be swapped between schools. It is the responsibility of the school/teacher who borrowed the item to ensure its safe return, on time, to the Education Centre.

 There are also a substantial number of professional/academic publications across a wide range of subjects of use to both primary and post primary teachers who are engaged in research or further studies.  This is added to, on an on going basis and suggestions from teachers are always welcome.  Some of the books are listed below under the following headings: Research Books, First Steps Reading and Writing, Building Bridges of Understanding, Levelled Readers for pupils, SEN Resource books and Reference Materials.
