This dynamic, full-day, face-to-face workshop is designed specifically for primary school leaders - principals, deputy principals, APs - who want to explore the practical use of ChatGPT to support their day-to-day leadership and management tasks.
With practical opportunities throughout the day, participants will learn how to harness the power of AI to support key initiatives across three major focus areas:
1. Primary Curriculum Framework & Planning Support
- Get to grips with the Primary Curriculum Framework, with a focus on:
- Short-term planning and lesson planning with a focus on the New Maths Curriculum and related Oide and NCCA resources
- Creating new timetables aligned with updated time allocations.
2. Policy Development & Wellbeing Initiatives.
- Create a pupil-friendly version of your existing Bí Cineálta Policy, both in written and visual formats.
- Develop a Wellbeing Walkway for your school in line with the new Department of Education & Youth inspection requirements.
3. AI and the class teacher & AI and administrative tasks including…
- Learn how a class teacher uses AI to support teaching, learning and assessment
- Graph and analyse school data to support School Self Evaluation
- Create teacher interviewing materials.
No prior experience with AI is necessary – this course is practical, accessible, and focused on helping you save time, enhance planning, and support whole-school development through the smart use of ChatGPT. Please bring charged laptops and your Cineáltas Policy (MS version) on the day.

Learning Outcomes
- Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to apply AI tools (including ChatGPT) to support short-term planning, lesson preparation and whole-school curriculum planning in line with the Primary Curriculum Framework and the new Primary Maths Curriculum.
- Participants will develop a greater understanding of how AI can support policy development and wellbeing initiatives, including creating child-friendly versions of the Bí Cineálta policy and designing school-wide wellbeing resources aligned with inspection requirements.
- Participants will be equipped to implement AI-supported approaches to school leadership and management tasks, including timetable design, school self-evaluation through data analysis, and the creation of interview materials.
- Participants will be prepared to address challenges associated with the ethical, safe and effective use of AI in schools, and to integrate AI responsibly into leadership, classroom practice and administrative workflows.
